homemade hot chocolate recipe

Anyone can make a cup of hot cocoa from a packet, but did you know that everyone can make a delicious cup of homemade hot chocolate from scratch? It’s true, and while I may be a little partial, this is the best homemade hot chocolate recipe you’ll ever try. Ever.

Even better, I bet you already have all the ingredients you need for this hot chocolate recipe right in your kitchen pantry.

Fun fact #1: You may have heard that the darker the chocolate, the greater the health benefits—improved heart health, better cholesterol levels, improved insulin sensitivity, better brain function, better skin health, lower stress levels, decreased cortisol, and more. Do you know why that’s the case? The laundry list of benefits associated with dark chocolate is largely due to the antioxidants (e.g., flavanols, polyphenols) from cocoa, and the darker the chocolate, the higher the cocoa content. In this recipe, we use pure cocoa, which provides you all the health benefits with far fewer calories and more chocolatey flavor.

Fun fact #2: Cocoa contains a compound called theobromine, which is structurally similar to caffeine. Theobromine possesses mild stimulant qualities, increases feelings of wellbeing, and boosts alertness. Also, theobromine has the potential to decrease fat storage while increasing fat burning. Burn more fat and store less…how does that sound?

I don’t know about you, but this sounds like a gift from above. Not only will this delicious homemade hot chocolate mix combat cravings guilt-free, it can also boost the way you look, feel, and perform.
